This happened to my Chik-Fil-A order. As I was walking in, this one dude was rushing out in a hurry. I had always had it in the back of my mind that someone would take my order one day if I was too late to pick it up and of course, it happened on that one day. I wasn’t even mad though. It’s Chik-Fil-A. Homophobic Jesus made sure they remade my order.

However, the worst part of the experience was being forced to stand there as they remade my order. My god did they talk my ears off. These pubescent shift leaders constantly coming over to me reassuring me that the food was on its way (I know cause it hasn’t even been a minute since y’all spoke to me last and I told y’all it was cool to take your time). One of the shift leaders kept hyping me up saying stuff like “That’s my guy right there!”. That was just an awkward experience, lol

I put on a mobile order for Chik-Fil-A once. Only ordered fries and a drink. Arrived about 10 minutes later. No other customers were in the store but my order wasn’t ready. I then waited another 10 minutes because someone came in and made everyone take a group photo. I don’t even know if the guy worked there.

u/EffrumScufflegrit Sep 28 '22

Doesn't CFA make you wait till you're at the restaurant to submit the order?

224

most restaurants don't start making the order until you check in, or at least they're supposed to

Door Dash badges are $5 online…..for those who lack in confidence or have scoliosis….

629

u/Dropdeadfredb Sep 28 '22

I did Door Dash for a bit and there was never a badge. The badge is a scam.

346

u/[deleted] Sep 28 '22

Yup, but it adds authority, plus folks making shit pay probably don’t care anyway.

190

u/Dropdeadfredb Sep 28 '22

It actually takes away authority if anyone who works at that restaurant does door dash on the side. Plus, why would you give your money to a scammer?

132

u/GoSuckYaMother Sep 28 '22 Helpful

They’re gonna care when they have to make the same order twice lol

68

u/NotTheBestMoment ☑️ Umarion Sep 28 '22

They work hourly, they have no reason to care if they have to remake an order. When I was younger I had weird reasons to hate my job too.

21

u/jonkl91 Sep 28 '22

Exactly. So why would you want to do extra work and remake an order for a scammer when you don't have to?

I'd never do something like this as it's a shitty thing to do, but I've been aware as a clean-cut, trim, middle aged white guy that I could get away with quite a few petty crimes and some major ones that aren't associated with people who look like me.

And then there's the bar I've been going to for 25 years and I know all the staff there very well, but when I walk in the door the first thing they do is greet me with a smile and then demand I show my ID, which is the way it's supposed to be and what they to do everyone that walks in regardless of who they are.

Yah bro, you should totally steal food someone had to pay like $35 for. That’s the move. Cuz when people order food, they obviously don’t need it. We should def just pray on peoples good will. Hahahahhahahahaha oh man, good point guy. Really worth the Twitter mentions and stuff so you feel special for 30s. Yahhhh

382

u/BlackSilkEy Sep 28 '22

If your food disappears it just gets remade.

365

u/EffrumScufflegrit Sep 28 '22

What about the Uber eats driver that is barely making enough money as is (or aren't really) and their income is tied directly to how many orders they can do in a period of time? Yeah sure, fuck the restaurant and all, but this just takes money out of other poor people's (the drivers) pockets so you can get a free sandwich

65

u/loveablepolicywonk Sep 28 '22

DoorDashers are comrades. When stealing food, look at the tickets. If there's a line below the buyer name that says DoorDash, leave it alone you might be screwing over some poor gig worker. If it doesn't have that line, it's probably an order directly through the store portal aka not delivery!

58

u/86thdj ☑️ Sep 28 '22

Yo I had a DoorDasher steal my order a couple of times. Picked up my order, said they delivered it, and went on about their business.

8

u/Thespian21 ☑️ Sep 28 '22

Idk why they do that shit, they’ll get booted eventually. Literally the best tactic, I’ve never done it deliberately because I’ve never needed to, but if you just take a long time to get an order, they’ll cancel it & the app tells you to throw away the food…my mouth happens to be a place to put tacos

I was on the receiving end of this just yesterday at Chipotle.

Ordered 4 burrito bowls for me and my family, got there and it was jam packed but thought nothing of it since I ordered way ahead, got there to see nothing in my name was on the rack, waited 15 minutes only to be told that someone came in and grabbed the bag and left as soon as they put it out. Had to wait 20 minutes to get it remade because it was so busy.

Really surprised that they don’t even have it by the register, it’s a rack in front of it and it’s done completely as an honor system with no checking. All I thought was “dam the balls to just walk in and grab the biggest bag and walk out like it’s nothing” lol. Honestly though, it’s a dick move, I was tired as fuck after a long ass shift.

111

u/varnell_hill ☑️ Sep 28 '22

There’s a lot of applications for this idea. I’ve done physical security assessments professionally in the past and what we’ve learned is that people inherently trust uniforms and badges.

For instance, if you put on a blue t-shirt, walk into Walmart and just wander around for a few, chances are pretty good that a customer will ask you where something is or how much it costs. Same deal if you put on a red t-shirt and walk into Target. Or put on blue overalls and walk into almost any place of business, people will likely assume you’re a janitor or something and ignore you. In my experience, it’s very rare that people will ask if you work there. They will likely assume that you do, which opens up all kinds of possibilities.

If you care to Google around, there’s been cases of people doing just that and walking out of big box retailers with all kinds of stuff.

126

u/Hunter_Rodrigez Sep 28 '22

Heard a story of a security assessment guy who tried to get into places by looking confident and wearing a high visibility vest... The few times that failed he basically went: "Congratulations, I am here to assess your security and you passed."

People would become excited and flustered and promptly send the guy on his merry way... into the building, thereby failing because saying "I am doing a security assessment" was all it took to get in without any further questions.

81

u/varnell_hill ☑️ Sep 28 '22 edited Sep 28 '22

I believe it. One assessment I did was similar to this. My cover was that I was with the local gas utility and we were at the company to ensure their plumbing is up to code. I didn’t wear a badge (purposely because we wanted to see if anyone would ask for ID) but I did wear overalls, a vest, hard hat, and I brought a clipboard to really sell it lol.

Anyway, I was able to get security to let me into various offices and they even left me unescorted some of the time. Funny thing about that one was if anyone had bothered to ask me about my job it would’ve been painfully obvious that something isn’t right because I know absolutely NOTHING about plumbing.

It was wild.

14

u/techn9neiskod ☑️ Sep 28 '22

So someone got fired?

36

u/varnell_hill ☑️ Sep 28 '22 edited Sep 28 '22

I’m not sure. When the assessment is over, we write up a report and give it to the people in charge. We don’t know or ask what they do with that information.

17

This is why I don’t wear red shirts to Target. I’ve never done an assessment for them but I have gone in there before as a customer wearing red.

I’ve done this maybe three times and I would get stopped at least once or twice per visit.

I used to work in a business casual office. Anytime I wore red or blue polos I had to be sure to avoid Target, Office Depot, Comp USA, Best Buy, and / or Walmart on my lunch breaks or on the way home.

Over half the time I would get asked if I worked there and if I could help with something or my opinion. A few times I'd help since I work in technology anyway but I'd preface with I didn't work there so they'd be clear.

Aside from it being a shitty thing to do, how shitty does your life have to be to risk jail for a burger and fries?

Someone gives you this kind of “advice,” just assume they hate you.

36

u/GiventoWanderlust Sep 28 '22

Absolutely no one is going to jail over a burger and fries. Hell my retail job keeps upping the minimum required theft before we even bother calling the cops, because it's literally costing the store more money to pay someone to pursue charges than the product is worth.

Minimum wage employees definitely don't give a fuck. Food disappeared? They just remake it. No one is watching those DoorDash racks to make sure the "right people" are taking them, because again - the cost of a single meal is meaningless to the business compared to court/labor costs
